Janice Bardwell - company founder

Janice Bardwell is an experienced Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner who has been involved in outdoor events and sporting venues for many years starting with events on London’s Southbank and the legal designation of the Oval cricket ground covering Food, Health and Safety and sports ground legislation.

More recent experience has included being Chair of the Safety Advisory group for Swindon Town, Blunsdon Abbey stadium, Radio 1 big weekend. Being Chair of the South West region Safety at Sports Ground group allowed Janice to gain insight and experience of other sports venues.

Since leaving Local Government Janice has worked on a number of outdoor events including the Weston Beach Race (2010 onwards) as well as fund raising events for a client who is national charity.

Janice was lead tutor on the South West Regional assembly and its antecedents Safety at sports ground course.

Janice has always believed that independent auditing of safety systems and standards can assist in highlighting good practice and show where improvements are necessary. The mantra of plan, implement, audit and review hold good for all safety situations and combined with simple, practical documentation can ensure that events and sports ground are safe places for the public to enjoy.

Janice is on the Register of Occupational Safety and Health Consultants.

David Bardwell

David Bardwell is a highly experienced Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner (EHO) who has worked within industry, nationally and in Europe dealing with Food safety, Food standards and Health and Safety.

David brings his experience of working as the Chair of Wiltshire’s multi disciplinary Public Event Safety Group, where events covered included WOMAD, The Lamar Tree festival , Honeyfest, The Redbull Air Race, to maintaining and improving the organisation of temporary events, especially those outdoors.

David gained Safety at Sports ground experience when Chair of the Safety Advisory group for both Salisbury City FC and Salisbury race course. David co-wrote the Wiltshire and Swindon Public Event safety guide for organisers.

David does not believe in over documented systems but cares passionately that systems are fully embedded with all parties. He similarly believes that skilled monitoring and review are necessary to ensure the maintenance of appropriate standards.

David can provide a service to help introduce simple, effective safety measures with support for planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing the health and safety systems. The aim is to avoid complex risk assessments and systems that will lie unused but concentrate on practical and achievable.

Having spent many years working as an officer in local authorities and now business carrying out inspections , audits, accident investigations and where necessary taking enforcement action he is able to bring a wealth health and safety knowledge to Events and Sporting venues with practical and sensible safety solutions.
